A Special Ramadan Message from Wasat ED
Baraka Blue
Service is Sacred
This month, we have a range of programs and offerings, as well as opportunities to support and help Wasat expand our work for years to come.
WASAT RAMADAN OFFERINGS
We will be highlighting community members who exemplify the spirit of service.
Each week we will share images and interviews with community members who are engaging in sacred service in some way or another: from teachers, to community organizers, to health care professionals, and many more.
We know that Islam itself is a call to deepen our servitude to Allah thereby becoming a means of mercy and service to all beings. Thus, the heart of Islam is sacred service to Allah and to His creatures.
Be sure to click the link to see the full features of our highlighted community members as they reflect on the ways that being part of the Wasat community has inspired their work. Throughout the month we encourage everyone to reflect on and give thanks for the unique ways that Allah has blessed them to serve. May this month be an opportunity to renew our intentions to make our entire lives a means of sacred service.
LANGUAGE OF LIGHT SERIES IS BACK THIS RAMADAN
Last year during Ramadan we launched our Language of Light series, which subsequently won Best Short Video Series in the Global Center for Muslim Life’s Best of Ramadan 2020 awards.
Each video explores the deeper meaning of a word used in Revelation and explores its subtleties and nuances with the intention to grant us a deeper insight into the worldview of the Quran & the path of our noble Prophet ﷺ. A new video will be shared every other day this holy month and will be available on our website and all our social media platforms. Be sure to follow our FB, IG, and Youtube pages.
This Ramadan the Language of Light series returns with numerous teachers including Zaytuna College’s Imam Dawud Yasin, Tayseer Seminary’s Shaykha Zaynab Ansari, as well as Wasat instructors Imam Adeyikna Muhammad Mendes, Rahma Grupp, and Baraka Blue.
THE BOOK OF LOVE
Last year Wasat partnered with Rumi Center for a unique month long online course diving into the deeper meanings of the Quran, which became one of the highlights of the year. We are pleased to offer this course once again this Ramadan!
The Book of Love is a month long online exploration of the beauty and wisdom of the Quran with a special focus on the Quranic treatment of Love. Taking the great sages of love as our guides (al-Ghazali, Rumi, and others), we will explore what it means to love God, what it means to be God’s beloveds, and the means to attain that love through walking the way of love, outwardly and inwardly.
Led by Baraka Blue, the course is 100% online and can be engaged at your own convenience. Learn more and register by clicking the link. Wasat community members receive $20 off when they use the discount code “wasat” at check.
In Service of the Sacred Virtual Benefit
Wasat’s Ramadan (1442•2021) Fundraiser
This year we are asking you to help us reach our goal of $125,000 dollars!
We all know that good deeds are multiplied during the month of Ramadan and it is a month when the most generous of people, our beloved Prophet, peace be upon him, was more generous than any other time of year.
Each year during Ramadan we ask our community to support Wasat to sustain our work for the year ahead and help us expand our services for our growing community. Last year, due to your generosity, we were able to exceed our goal!
Your generosity will help us expand our programming this year (online at first, but insha’Allah in person very soon), including our classes of sacred knowledge, our convert care, youth programming, neighborly needs, and Heartcentric counseling and support.
SPONSOR A NEIGHBORLY NEEDS IFTAT THIS RAMADAN
In previous years we gathered weekly during Ramadan for classes and Iftars with our community. This year, like last year, we are unable to do so. However, last Ramadan, we decided that we would reach out to our community to ask for your support so that we could serve nutritious hot boxed Iftar meals for Muslims in need in our city. The response was overwhelming and we were able to host 11 Iftars throughout the month, serving thousands of meals!
This year we will again be distributing Iftar meals in South Seattle. You can support these efforts by sponsoring an Iftar by clicking the link.
